Email hello@livekindred.com and we'll help you get logged in.
Setting up your profile is a great way to get other members excited about hosting you! You’ll be able to create a profile for both yourself and your home, in the Kindred app or in the web app.
In the web app: sign in at livekindred.com and open your user profile or your home profile.
We recommend adding a reusable video to your profile so hosts can get to know you a bit more when you request to stay at their home.
Have questions? Feel free to contact the Kindred Concierge team in app!
Contact the Concierge team in the Kindred app, or email hello@livekindred.com, and tell us the email address on your account and the one you want to use instead. Our team will take care of updating it for you.
Go to Account Settings and open the Notification preferences to choose how you hear from Kindred, including alerts for homes that match your wishlist. Every Kindred email also links to the Preference Center from its footer, so you can update your choices or unsubscribe from marketing emails there. For push notifications, check that notifications are switched on for Kindred in your phone's notification settings.
The app shows in your device's language when Kindred supports it. Kindred's app is available in German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.
To change the language on desktop: Click the globe icon 🌐 in the top right.
To change the language in-app: Change via phone settings (Apps > Kindred > Language).

When you’ll be away and ready to host other members, you can mark your home as available in the Kindred app or in the web app. Here’s how in the app:
You can also add and edit availability directly from your home profile:
In the web app: sign in and open your home profile at livekindred.com/profile/home, then click “Add availability” and choose your dates.
Please note that we monitor irregularities in hosting availability. Read our member code of conduct for more information.
Letting people know you’re interested in swapping is quite different than listing your home as available.
Swapping
When you create a swap wishlist, this means you’re open to traveling over these dates, but your home isn’t necessarily vacant unless you can find a swap with another member. Members generally use this option as a way of indicating ‘conditional availability’ i.e., “if I find another Kindred home, my home will be available.”
You can denote this by clicking on the “+” button and selecting “I'm looking to travel”, and specifically selecting the “Swaps” button under “Type of trip?”. Your home will show up as “Seeking swaps” to members in the areas you indicated you’d like to swap to, over the dates you selected.
Availability
By contrast, adding your hosting availability from the “+” menu in the app means that your home has confirmed vacancy and that you’re open to hosting members while you’re away in exchange for credits (which you can use to travel to other available homes on the platform at a later time). See how to add availability here.
Members generally add hosting availability when they plan to be away from home but aren’t necessarily looking for another Kindred home to swap to at the same time. Your home will show up as “Available” to all members on the platform over the dates you selected.
You can also reference our availability vs. swap guide, listed in our “Guides” section of our resources page for more details.
What happens if the dates don't align?
If you've received a reciprocal swap request but the dates don't work for your travel plans, you have options:
Do I need to decline an existing request before a new one can be submitted?
In most cases, the other member can submit a new request without you declining first. However, if you're unsure, contact the Concierge team and they can guide you through the process for your specific situation.
Can I modify a swap request after accepting?
If you need to change the dates or details of an accepted swap, contact the Concierge team in the app. They can help coordinate changes with the other member.
Your credit balance can be found on the Travel tab, Host tab, and from the account menu found on the Explore tab, indicated by the star icon. Tapping on the credit icon will take you to your credit ledger where you can review all credit activity.
Response rate shows how often a host answers the trip requests they receive. A host counts as responding when they approve, decline, or reach out by message, video call or a proposed change within 48 hours of being notified. A request that expires with no answer counts against the host. Requests you withdraw before the host acts are left out of their rate.
The rate covers the last 6 months, or the host's last 5 requests if that is more, and it appears on host profiles, on Home Details and when you request to stay. It only shows once a host has at least 5 requests.
You can cancel a confirmed trip yourself in the Kindred app or in the web app at livekindred.com. In the app, make sure you and the other member are on the latest version.
To cancel:
If you're a host canceling within 30 days of the trip start date, we'll also step in to help your guest rebook, no extra action needed on your part beyond confirming the cancellation.
Please note that swaps and in-progress trips will require assistance from the Concierge team.
The Kindred extension for Chrome shows you Kindred homes while you plan a trip anywhere on the web. When you search for a destination and dates on Google or a supported travel site, it shows which member homes are open for those dates, right on the page. It works in Chrome on desktop and laptop computers, not on phones or tablets.
Search the way you already do. When you look up a stay, a small Kindred card appears with the homes available to you. Click it to open the side panel and browse in full, or dismiss it and keep going. Tap a home to open it on Kindred, already signed in.
Signed in, you'll see homes open for your exact dates, including swaps. If you're not signed in, you'll still see which homes are open that month. Exact dates, swaps and host details need a Kindred account.
The extension works on Google Travel and the major booking sites, including Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com and Expedia. We add new sites regularly, and the side panel always shows the current list. You choose where it runs: turn each site on or off any time from the side panel.
The extension only reads the destination, dates and number of guests from searches on sites you've turned on, and only to find available Kindred homes. It doesn't track your browsing or see anything on sites you haven't turned on.
Want another site supported? Tell the Kindred Concierge team in the app. Member requests decide which site we add next.
Not a member yet? You need an accepted Kindred membership to sign in. Apply at livekindred.com.
