A host who is chatting with you can open their calendar to you, which lets you request dates they haven't posted as available. You'll see a message in your chat, and we'll send you an email and, if you have push notifications on, a notification.

To request a trip, open the chat and tap "Request now." You can choose from the next 6 months. Dates that already have a confirmed guest or a pending request are blocked. After that, you'll fill in guests, pets, and a note as you normally would.

A few things to know:

  • The host still needs to approve. Opening the calendar doesn't guarantee your request will be accepted, so confirm your dates in the chat first.
  • The calendar is open only to you.
  • The host can turn it off at any time, and it turns off once you send a request or when the chat ends. If you don't see the "Request a trip" button, ask the host to open their calendar again.
  • The dots on the host's calendar still show only their posted availability.
